Laravel 12 Released with New Starter Kits
Laravel 12 arrived on 24 February 2025 as a maintenance-focused release with minimal breaking changes and new React, Vue and Livewire starter kits.
Laravel 12 was released on 24 February 2025. The framework team described it as a largely maintenance release that updates upstream dependencies while keeping breaking changes to a minimum, so most Laravel 11 applications can upgrade with little or no code change.
Highlights
- New application starter kits for React, Vue and Livewire, replacing Breeze and Jetstream for new projects. The React and Vue kits use Inertia 2, TypeScript, Tailwind and shadcn-style components.
- An option to use WorkOS AuthKit in the starter kits for social login, passkeys and SSO.
- Updated dependencies and small quality-of-life improvements across the framework.
Laravel 12 requires PHP 8.2 or newer, so applications still running on PHP 8.1 or older must upgrade PHP before moving to it.
